I stayed at The Paws Inn with my mom and our three smallish dogs around the Thanksgiving holiday. If you're looking for a getaway in the Bethel, Maine area AND... read more you're a pet owner, this is definitely the place for you. Unlike other inns in the area that claim to be "pet friendly", your pets are welcome to stay in your room even when you leave the premises. The pet play area off the kitchen is perfect for letting your dogs out if you don't have time to take them for a walk. The kitchen and living room/dining room are cozy and super clean, considering this is a dog friendly inn!
Carolyn, the innkeeper, is lovely and laid back. She makes your visit feel warm and welcome, like you're staying at a friend's house rather than at an inn. Carolyn's breakfasts are delicious! Her baked eggs and french toast are absolutely decadent! If you're looking for a quick breakfast, she puts out cereals and granola bars and keeps a fridge stocked with beverages for the guests. Kip, her German Shepherd/Collie mix is such a sweetheart, and got along well with my three dogs.
The room we stayed in was spacious and clean, featuring a queen size bed, sizable closet (large enough to fit plenty of luggage), two upholstered chairs, a flat screen TV with cable, and a roomy bathroom with walk-in shower. There was even space for an inflatable queen mattress on the floor. The inn offers free, fast wi-fi which was a huge plus! I was worried about being cold but the heating is great, and the thermostat is right outside the room for easy control.
The Paws Inn is super affordable and honestly the best place in Bethel for pet owners. Definitely pay it a visit; you won't be disappointed!

Carol encouraged us to let our pup hang out with her and the other dogs she was sitting for. She is such a dog-lover, and she gave our dog a ton of love. She even allowed him to select a toy to take home. Two weeks later, the blue pig is still his favorite.
The room was nice, and I loved the heating pad on the bed. And she encourages guests to help themselves to snacks or tea/coffee anytime.
If we go back to Bethel, we'll definitely stay here again.
